Hello Dear Reader, and welcome to my new home on the internet. I'm lucky to live in a beautiful village nestling by the river Bain in the heart of the Lincolnshire Wolds. From my windows overlooking pasture land, I can see sheep and Lincoln Red Cows according to the season. Just one small Church, a Village Pub and less than 250 inhabitants.
This is where I will write my many "Poems Of Love" together with a few stories, I do hope you enjoy them and return again. Please leave a comment should you wish, it is always lovely to hear from you.
Susie's book "A Power Within - Poems of Love" is available to purchase here, see: Navigation.
It is also available at the Myeloma UK 'info days' throughout the year. Proceeds to Myeloma UK.
The following poems have been written by me for my husband Hamada, who is suffering from Multiple Myeloma – a bone marrow cancer arising from the plasma cells. After many months of chemotherapy and contracting pneumonia twice, (once given only twelve hours to live) and now having two bad fractures to his spine, and only a small percentage of kidney function left, we have made it to four years. He never complains using his most amazing smile even when I know he has severe pain. Hamada achieved a Stem Cell Transplant, using his own ‘harvested cells’ during October 2007 he spent seventeen days in the Centre For Clinical Haematology at Nottingham City Hospital UK. He obtained a good partial remission and managed just over a year before tests showed ‘the beast was back’ Hamada is weak and tired but with his amazing courage he continues his fight against Multiple Myeloma. I hope you enjoy these poems of love telling of our life together and all latest updates posted, to help raise the profile of this rare 1% of all cancers. I hope you follow as Hamada makes this journey.

As readers to this blog already know, I chronicle here, a continuous register of updates and poems telling of Hamada's journey with this difficult disease of Multiple Myeloma. A most complex illness to treat and stage, with at the moment, no known cure. Still for many people it can be managed well if diagnosed early. Hamada was diagnosed when the Myeloma had attacked his kidneys and was in eighty percent of his blood steam. So you will understand his courageous battle with this disease.
Hamada was very keen that I record his progress or lack of, during this journey to perhaps help others. So you will appreciate that my poems must be and are, from my true feelings and watchfulness as the days go by. Hamada is currently out of remission and now once again undergoing Chemotherapy treatment with the drug Velcade.

Susie, What an inspiring interview. I cried listening to you. My heart hurt for you and Hamada knowing what you are going through. I pray that doctors will find the right drugs and/or procedures to put him back into remission. I pray that both of you will find peace and comfort and joy in every day you are blessed with. With God all things are possible. Through your poems you give such great hope, such peace, and so much love to those suffering with myeloma, their caretakers and their families. Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful poetry.

Thank you so much for letting me read your poems. They are beautiful and obviously written from your soul. You are so talented and I wish you were publishing them for a different reason. Having read some of the poems, I feel that I’ve been on some of your journey with you. I haven’t finished yet and will come back to you. I especially like ‘I wish I could untangle you’ . I remember from my 50th party, what a beautiful couple you and Hamada made and what a connection you seemed to have.
My thoughts are with you.

Susie { 11.28.09 at 6:28 pm } A wonderful critque from Lieutenant Morse:
Susie Hemingway’’s book, A Power Within, Poems of Love came in the mail today. I plan on giving it to the Mrs. for Christmas. I can’t think of a better gift. I hid it in the basement after giving it a quick read. The quick read lasted over an hour, even though I had already read most of the poems inside they are so good you can read them countless times.
I never was much of a poetry fan but these are different, I often wonder why. Maybe it’s because I found Susie while doing a random search of all of the blogs from all over the world and for some reason landed on her site. The words simply struck home. Maybe it’s because we both are blessed with beautiful, courageous and inspiring spouses who happen to be ailing. Maybe it’s because her words seem to find me at all the right times, when I need them the most. Whatever the reason, follow the link to Susie’s site, I think you will also be hooked by the passion, honesty and love her words convey.
Though written for her husband, Hamada, who is battling Multiple Myeloma, they manage to touch my soul every time I read one.
Thank you Susie, this is a great gift, probably won’t make it to the 25th
Hi, Susie,
Just letting you know I placed a plug for your book on my blog’s sidebar.
All the best…
